What do dinosaurs, floods, and suburban families have in common? Join us for a one-night-only party exploring Thornton Wilder’s "The Skin of Our Teeth"! Learn about this hilarious, apocalyptic, and deeply human play — and how YOU can join the cast this winter!
ADMISSION
Pay-what-you-can with a suggested donation of $15 — and every dollar goes directly to supporting the Alban Arts Center and keeping local theatre alive and accessible for all.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Step into a world where humans survive the end of the world — again and again — and somehow keep their sense of humor through it all. Throughout the evening, you’ll enjoy:
Live scene readings from "The Skin of Our Teeth" performed by local actors
- A quick, engaging introduction to the play’s history, characters, and themes led by the director, Mariah Plante
- Themed refreshments including hot cocoa, mocktails, and light hors d'oeuvres inspired by the Ice Age, the Great Flood, and the end of civilization (yum!)
- Selfie Photo booth & Costume Props to help you “survive in style”
- Grab an Audition Info Packet, including: character descriptions, monologue suggestions, rehearsal dates, and sign-up info
WHAT TO WEAR
We call it “End-of-the-World Chic” Think holiday party meets Ice Age survivor. You’re heading to a classy cocktail party that just happens to be happening… at the end of civilization.
Dress as if you just left the Met Ball and had to trek through a snowstorm (bonus points for faux fur or scarves).
- Sparkly accessories? Perfect — humanity deserves a little glamour before the flood.
- Layers, scarves, and textures are encouraged — the Ice Age waits for no one.
- If all else fails, black and bold never go out of style (even when the world does).
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
- Anyone curious about "The Skin of Our Teeth" or Thornton Wilder
- Local actors and volunteers interested in auditioning or joining the production (Ages 13+)
- Theatre students, educators, and community members who love the arts
-Anyone who’s ever thought, “Well, we’re hanging on by the skin of our teeth!”
No experience necessary — just bring your curiosity, your imagination, and maybe a coat (in case of another Ice Age).
