Set against the playful backdrop of a 1950s sitcom, this lively take on Shakespeare’s classic comedy brings a fresh twist to a timeless tale. The Taming of the Shrew is a fast-paced battle of the sexes featuring a cast of madcap characters. The clever Petruchio must match wits with the fiercely independent Kate, while the lovestruck Lucentio gets tangled in a web of mistaken identities as he vies for the hand of the beautiful Bianca. Will love conquer all—or will these couples remain at odds forever? Performances: ? August 7, 8, 9 and August 14, 15, 16 (Outdoors at the State House of 1676) ? Sensory-Friendly Matinee: August 10 (Indoors at the Dodge Performing Arts Center, St. Mary’s College of Maryland) ?️ Rehearsals begin the first week of May and will be held outdoors. Please bring a list of all conflicts from April 29–August 17. ? Can’t attend in person? Submit a video audition by 10:00 p.m. on April 29.
