Power of Vision Gallery Exhibit
In collaboration with Project for Pride in Living and Minneapolis Institute of Art, Hope Community's very first Power of Vision Cohort of artist-organizers created a 4000 sq. ft. mural on the Franklin Theatre building: now PPL’s Career Center (1021 E Franklin Ave). This project, which took place April - September 2019, was people-powered and highlights the collective resilience, history, and voices, in the Phillips Community.
Please join us for the opening reception of the Power of Vision Gallery Exhibit, held in Mia's Community Commons Gallery (2400 3rd Ave S, Minneapolis MN), on Thursday, November 21st from 5pm-7pm!
This exhibit will showcase the creative "behind the scenes" process of the cohort as well as pieces created by community members!
Welcome and Orientation with the Artist Cohort will begin at 5:30P. Courtney Cochran will be screen printing designs from the Mural! Please bring your own, clean, cotton, t-shirts!
On view until February 13th, 2020.
**The Power of Vision Mural Project (POV) began in 2004 as part of Hope Community’s community building and place keeping initiatives. In 2015, POV expanded their scope and possibilities by entering a partnership with Minneapolis Institute of Arts (Mia) to provide institutional resources and support to Mia’s deeper engagement with its surrounding community.**
