Join us for a GORUCK Crawford County event featuring your chance to earn the 2026 Polar Plunge patch! If you're plunging, don't forget a towel and dry set of clothes. And yes, you are still welcome to come even if you don't want to Polar Plunge. To each their own... but no patch for you. Since we will be plunging during the first month of the year America turns 250 years old, wear the red, white, and blue if you can!
Date: Saturday, January 24th
Time: 8 AM
Route Leader: Donavan Lacy
Meeting Location: Woodcock Dam parking lot
Distance: 4.8 mi
Difficulty: Hard (if you don't like the cold, otherwise, medium)
Cost: Free
We will be rucking first then heading to Rob’s house for the plunge so there will be opportunity to change directly after and as well as a hot shower if needed.
Children and leashed pets are welcome but this will be a long trek so this event encourages completing a portion of the ruck with littles or pets.
Essentials to bring: An extra change of clothes and a towel, water, appropriate footwear, appropriate clothing for the weather, and a positive attitude.
No ruck? No problem! Walkers are always welcome to join us with zero shame. Empty backpacks work too! We all carry different weights according to our personal fitness goals.
Rucking is a form of physical activity that involves walking with a loaded backpack (or ‘rucksack’) over various distances and terrains. (Plate carriers and sandbags are also welcome.) A moderate amount of added weight can produce the same stimulus and metabolic benefit as running, while also strengthening the legs and lower back. Rucking is similar to hiking and is often used as conditioning by backcountry hunters, endurance athletes, and those in the military and emergency services.
