Writer's Block: Gordon Lee Johnson
Join us for a conversation with Cahuilla and Cupeño writer Gordon Lee Johnson. The celebrated author will discuss his latest book, “Bird Songs Don’t Lie: Writings from the Rez”, a collection of short stories and essays. The book combines wry wit, unforgettable characters, and Johnson’s own experience to offer an authentic depiction of Native American life.
Press-Enterprise columnist Ruth Nolan praised the book saying, “Johnson is certainly an ultimate tour guide through Inland Native California living in the area of the Pala Reservation and beyond...As a non-Native reader, I can’t know the despair and struggles embodied therein. But Johnson leads me along the way and opens my eyes and makes me laugh and cry at every turn.”
Writers’ Block is FREE for members or with admission for nonmembers. Learn more about the book at www.crockerart.org/oculus/Read-With-Us-Gordon-Lee-Johnson.
