Why give to The Princess Book Club? So that we will remain available to you for the 20th year. We make reading exciting and all of our activities are open to the public at no charge.
Monthly Book Club Meeting – We receive request from authors and publication companies nationally to feature their book(s).
We create a monthly theme party based on said book(s).
Monthly Concerts – Based on the book, “The Hip Hop Generation” –Bakari Kitwana we have conversations across the generations over a catered meal while being entertained by local vocal artist, bands, poets, comedians, etc. of various genres. Our goal is to provide a communication wire between the young and old congregate through music in order to bring about peace and unity in the community as we break bread together.
Quarterly Open Book Night – Every three (3) months we interview 10 authors of various ethnicities, sexual orientation, and genres on stage by a comedian.
Annual 5K Autism Awareness – As our philanthropy, every first Saturday in June we host a 5K for the U.C. Davis Mind Institute autism research department.
Annual Tea Party for Domestic Violence Awareness – Every mid-April we host a Tea Party for DV Awareness. We have representatives from many genres. Such as:1). LGBT (victimized by relatives and society)2). Immigrates (fear of deportation if they tell)3). Male perspective(considered weak for telling)4). Military (wives are not considered patriotic if they tell).
Film Adaptation – When a book is adapted into film we host “Movie Critiquing Parties” at the movie theatre in the party room.
Read to Elementary School Age Children – As a preemptive strike against the pipeline to Pr*son, we read to elementary school age children at local elementary schools and libraries.
Sponsor Books – We have sponsored several books of various genres. One of which has been donated to the “Make-A-Wish” Foundation for hospitalized children.
Networking/Fundraiser – As an outreach, we vend at various businesses and organizations relevant to literacy. Additionally, we host fundraisers for other NPO’s to boost out appearance and to remain relevant in the community.
