This community gathering invites neighbors, historians, and anyone with a connection to these places to come together and share stories of Sacramento Chinatown and Locke through these two buildings.The evening will open with short presentations by experts on the history of both the Star Theater and the Confucius Temple and pathways of preserving historic buildings. A panel with community members will begin the storytelling by sharing their personal connections to these spaces. But the real heart of the night is you: an open community discussion where attendees share stories, reflections, and visions for these two buildings.Come be part of the conversation.Featured SpeakersBrian LeeConsulting Design Partner at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM). Born and raised in Sacramento, CA, he spent many afternoons and evenings of his youth at the Confucius Temple in Chinatown where his grandfather and aunt were active with the Chinese Benevolent Association.Clarence ChuFormer owner of the Star Theater and former chair of the Locke Foundation, Clarence has dedicated five decades to preserving the stories and the buildings of Locke.William BurgWilliam Burg is currently President of the Board of Directors of Preservation Sacramento, a citywide historic preservation advocacy nonprofit, and is former President of Sacramento Heritage Incorporated and Sacramento Historical Society.
