- **Event Description**: We hope you will join us for the final Float Fly of the season at Middle Lake in Sabula, Iowa, about 1 hour and 45 minutes N.E. of Iowa City. The Driscoll Island Float Fly will take place on Friday October 9th through early afternoon Sunday October 11th, We have reserved Driscoll Island, a small island accessible by a bridge in Middle Lake, right outside of Sabula, Iowa. It is a beautiful venue and is always a lot of fun. If you have never attended a float fly off of Driscoll Island, you are in for a real treat. It is worth the drive!!
The flying will start around 10a.m. on Friday and end around 1 PM Sunday afternoon. Everyone is on their own for food and beverages both days. You can either bring you own food and beverages or go to the local cafe, a short distance away. Camping, without hookups, is FREE on the 1/2 acre island but, if you need electricity etc, there is a camp ground very close by.
There is a landing fee for nonmembers of $15 to help offset expenses such as insurance and a port a potty etc.
That's pretty much it. We hope you will be able to make this outing, whether you come up for the day or for the weekend, we'd love to see everyone as we say "good bye to the warm flying weather.
Please RSVP and let us know if you can make it.
