Tik Maynard is an internationally respected horseman, eventer, and author who bridges the worlds of natural horsemanship and modern competition. Tik actively competes at the advanced level of eventing and has become one of the most sought-after clinicians in North America for his clear, thoughtful teaching and his deep understanding of the horse-human relationship.
Tik is the author of two acclaimed books:
📘 In the Middle Are the Horsemen — a beloved memoir exploring his journey through horsemanship, eventing, and learning from the world’s best trainers.
📗 Starting in the Middle — his newest release, offering practical insights, stories, and lessons for riders striving to deepen their partnership and communication with their horses.
Tik’s competitive accomplishments reflect his versatility and deep horsemanship. He is a two-time back-to-back champion of Road to the Horse, one of the most prestigious colt-starting competitions in the world, where his patient, skillful approach earned universal praise. He also won the Thoroughbred Makeover Championship, showcasing his talent for retraining off-the-track Thoroughbreds with empathy and precision.
