The name of the group recognizes that the Malahat is a connector for the members; Marnie lives in Lake Cowichan, Kathryn in Victoria’s Westshore and Diane in the Mount Douglas area of Victoria. Some of their earliest performances were concerts of contemporary classical music, and have come back to that even recently with a performance of Canadian women composers. During Covid they performed live-streamed events celebrating Advent and Lent, as well as a feature video. While all three are classical musicians, their love of the music of a variety of genres has meant they each have played with other ensembles specializing in jazz, folk, and even oldies rock.
