West Sussex Educational Psychology Service launched a good practice guidance for schools and support agencies on Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) last year.
This is a free training event for practitioners from schools and other services who work with children or their families who have difficulty attending school due to emotional issues. The training will supplement the guidance and provide attendees with further knowledge and skills. It is an expectation that all attendees are familiar with the guidance which can be downloaded here:
“I have to say the course completely exceeded my expectations. I have found it really useful and will be incorporating some of the strategies into my daily routines with the students ….. It made sense of so many of the behaviours and brought clarity to situations which sometimes have no obvious reasoning behind. I feel totally motivated and ready for the September cohort!”
“I found the training informative and very helpful. It has impacted my own practice in a positive way and helped me to disseminate this to colleagues. It has also enabled me to be more informed when leading a team of staff who are involved with children who do, or could potentially, display EBSA. The content was good and delivered at a good pace. Thank you for offering this training.”
