ALL PARTICIPANTS IN DERBY MUST BE 15 OR UNDER!!!


1. All participants MUST BE SIGNED UP BEFORE CATCHING A PRIZE-WINNING FISH. Sign-ups will be at Moundwood on May 2nd  from 6 AM- 2 PM. Derby will run from 7AM- 5PM. FREE ENTRY. All youth entered can accompany a team that is entered in the Rodney Hughes Memorial Crappie Tournament.

2. Only fishing on the navigable water of Indian Lake is permitted.

3. Bring in your best catch of the day ANY SPECIES. All fish need to meet the minimum size requirement of Ohio to count. Bass-12”, Crappie-9”, Saugeye-15”.

4. Every kid that goes fishing is a winner, and prizes will be given to all youth participants at 5 PM at Moundwood.

5. You MUST have fun!! All youth participants must have fun and enjoy the day out fishing! This day is about them, and we want them all involved! If you have any questions or would like some help, feel free to stop by the weigh-in station in Moundwood, there will be plenty of people present to lend a hand!

6. All fish must be turned in by 4PM to be considered. All fish must be caught by the YOUTH (necessary assistance is fine) All prize winning fish must be brought to the weigh-in station alive and in good condition.

7. A Lifetime Fishing License will be awarded to the youth participant (15 OR UNDER) that weighs in the biggest Drum (Sheepshead).

8. If the winning youth of the Lifetime Fishing License already has one, it may be used for a Lifetime Hunting License or given to a youth 15 or under of their choice. 

9. The Lifetime Fishing License award has NO CASH VALUE.

$75 ENTRY FEE-$50 MAIN POT | $25 BIG FISH

MAY 2, 2026, 7AM – 3PM


1. You can fish alone or in a two-member team. Teams may start fishing (line in water) anywhere on the lake May 2ND  at 7:00 AM and may continue fishing until 3:00 PM Any fishing before or after above noted times on the day of the tournament will result in disqualification. All fishing must stop by 3 PM. Cost is $75 per team $50 towards main pot and $25 towards big fish. 

2. Captain/Team meeting to start at 6:15am at Moundwood. You must sign up and check it at Moundwood by 6:30am. All teams must check in day of. You can check in as early as 6am.

3. Sign-ups will be at the Moundwood. CASH ONLY!!!!

4. Pay out will be 60%, 25%, 15% for main pot. Big fish pays out 100% unless tied. Tie splits pot.

5. Tournament waters shall be defined as areas open to all participants of the event and accessible by normal navigational means only. Fishing within 50 feet of a competitor’s boat, which is first anchored (includes power poles or talons) is prohibited. A safe and courteous distance should be maintained when trolling motors are in use. Any use of off-limit waters will result in disqualification.

6. Live or artificial baits may be used.

7. Crappie must be hooked and landed by team member(s). Crappies must be hooked through the lip or in the mouth.

8. Teams must comply with all state fishing and boating regulations. Fishing and boating licenses are the responsibility of the team member(s).

9. Weigh in lines will open at 2:30 PM. Angler(s) must be in weigh-in line with fish by 4:00 PM. FISH MUST BE WEIGHED BY 4 PM!! No team will be allowed to weigh-in after 4:00 PM.

10. Crappie must be weighed in at the official weigh-in site. Moundwood. Only one team member must be present at the time of weigh-in to be eligible for prizes.

11. Teams can weigh in not more than 5 crappies. All fish must be alive when entering the official weigh-in lin. Any team with more than 5 crappies will be disqualified. Once you have entered the weigh-in line, you may request an officer to verify your fish alive if you have fish struggling. Once an officer verifies your fish is alive and it expires by weigh-in time, it will count as legal fish. If the officer declares the fish expired, all dead crappies will be removed and only those that are alive will be entered on the weigh-in voucher. You may continue to the scales for the official weigh-in by the weigh master.

12. All crappies brought to the scales for weigh-in must have been caught during tournament hours from tournament waters by the team bringing them to the scales. 

13. All crappies presented for weigh- in must be 9 inches in length and not have any weight enhancements. Any team bringing in illegal crappies to the weigh-in line will be disqualified.  

14. Only one Big Fish prize will be awarded per tournament. Teams must designate their Big Fish at time of weigh in. 

15. Protests must be made to the tournament Director immediately upon conclusion of the weigh-in. 

16. In the case of a tie for any money position or for big fish award the money will be split evenly between the tying teams. 

17. Instances of poor sportsmanship like conduct can be grounds for disqualification if circumstances require.
