- **Event Description**: The incredible Tyler Big Band is scheduled to perform in concert at 7pm on August 8th at the Cherokee Civic Theatre in Rusk, TX.  This will be the first ever performance of this storied big band in Rusk.

The Tyler Big Band presents a unique music style that brings together swing, jazz, and rock music in an energetic program that is entertaining for both young and old.  Whether swinging to dance band hits from the 40s or jumping to jazz standards, everyone enjoys the sounds of an authentic 17-piece band playing the classic hits.

The Tyler Big Band has been a staple of the music scene in Tyler for over 50 years, thanks to skilled musicians who love to play the unique “Big Band” sound pioneered by Glen Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and many others.  Over the years, the band has played for country club dances, wedding receptions, class reunions, conventions, patriotic events, and nonprofit fundraisers.

From former military band musicians and school band directors to doctors and college students, the Tyler Big Band members come from all walks of life to make the music they love and to bring it alive to new audiences whenever possible.

The MC will be Phil Burks, Founder/CEO of Burks GenCore Co. Inc.  Don’t pass up a chance to come hear the incredible, the original, Tyler Big Band!
