Type Ia Supernovae are used to measure both how much the Universe expands, and what the contents of the Universe might be… 
Philippe’s particular interest is in looking at how "biased" our measurements of these Type Ia Supernovae might be: Some of the light from these supernovae might be obscured by a particularly dusty galaxy, we might not be observing the most optimal regions of the sky, or the Universe might expand faster in one region of the sky.

After a refreshment break, Dr Jan Drozd may well surprise us when he reveals “We are Stardust“.
