WHEN

WHERE & GETTING THERE
The Camden Centre, 1 Market Square, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN1 2NP
We’ll be in the Main hall, and the event will be clearly signposted on the day.
The Camden Centre is attached to Royal Victoria Place which is right in the heart of Tunbridge Wells; it is only a 10-15 minute walk from Tunbridge Wells station, and the bus stops are only a 5 minute walk away.
Driving is also an option with Royal Victoria Place having an extensive car park only a 5 minute walk from the venue, with costs below:
Rates are £8.00 for 24 hours if you park on Levels 8a and 9, or £11 if you park on levels 1-8.
If you’re a Parkrunner, the nearest one to the venue is Dunorlan Park (
https://www.parkrun.org.uk/royaltunbridgewells/), which is just over a mile away on foot and it starts at 9am on Saturday. There is limited paid-for parking available at Dunorlan in two separate car parks, and you need to register online before arriving at the event.
If you’re overnighting the night before/on Saturday night, we have a local Premier Inn and Travelodge, along with some more upmarket hotels i.e. the Hotel du Vin if you desire.
WHAT
You’ll be playing 15-round games of Countdown in the “Bristol” ("classroom") format, where everyone plays in pairs from the same selections projected on a big screen, and with each pair choosing their preferred selection during the numbers rounds … all will be explained on the day for anyone unfamiliar, and we’ll start with a practice round.
We'll play at least five/maybe six games in total (time dependent for the sixth), followed by the top two players on the day facing off in a 15-round grand final.
As with most Countdown events, the first round will be drawn randomly, but don't worry if you have a patchy start - for the remaining games you will be playing opponents that have scored similarly to you, so everyone should get some good, well matched games. The primary aim is to have fun!
And of course there will be prizes!
FOOD & DRINK
Being in the heart of Tunbridge Wells, there are plenty of options for food i.e. a Tescos is a 5-10 minute walk, there is an M&S within Royal Victoria Place and plenty of independent restaurants/shops to try.
Your own food, and alcohol can be brought and consumed at the venue.
We will have access to a small kitchen in the venue itself, with tea/coffee making facilities, etc.
