Featuring the great operas of Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Bizet, Puccini, Offenbach, Gilbert & Sullivan and more. The distinguished cast appears in sumptuous period evening dress, recreating the grandeur and glamour of past times.
London Festival Opera brings together distinguished artists from the major companies including the Royal Opera, ENO and Glyndebourne with exceptional young singers. Past performances have been throughout the UK and Europe, including in one of the world’s greatest opera houses La Fenice in Venice, and as far afield as Hong Kong, Zimbabwe and Mumbai.
Fabulous singing, elegant costumes and spoken introductions combine to make this a performance not to be missed for all opera lovers and newcomers alike. A programme of passion, drama and humour accompanied by superb orchestral backing tracks.
London Festival Opera has appeared in theatres and concert halls in London, Rome, Paris, Hamburg, Brussels, Monte Carlo, Marrakech, Mumbai, Harare, Barbados and Hong Kong. Engagements have included a private performance in the presence of the late Queen Elizabeth II, charity performances in the presence of His Majesty The King (when Prince of Wales), the President of France, the Ambassador at the British Embassy in Paris, and as a guest company in one of Italy’s greatest opera houses, La Fenice in Venice. The company has appeared in many theatres in the UK including Windsor Theatre Royal, The Richmond Theatre, Malvern Theatre, Jersey Opera House, New Theatre Oxford, Buxton Opera House, Grand Theatre Blackpool and Gala Theatre Durham. London Festival Opera has presented ‘Opera Magic’ in schools and theatres to thousands of children and is committed to introducing the next generation to the magical world of opera.
If you have not experienced a picnic followed by opera at the atmospheric and beautiful Bayham Abbey, with ever-changing coloured lights flooding the abbey walls, you should be sure to be there. The gates at Bayham open for picnics at 5.30pm and the opera starts at 7.30pm. Car parking is in a field next to the Bayham grounds.
