About the event

Native Dance Workshop
This immersive workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore diverse styles of powwow dance from a celebrated Fancy Dancer, hip hop artist and member of the Crow Nation.

Have you ever been curious about powwow dancing and its rich cultural traditions? This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to learn and engage! Join Christian Takes Gun Parrish, aka Supaman, for an immersive experience exploring the diverse styles of powwow dance. Discover the origins, meanings, and movements behind dances such as the Men's Fancy War Dance, Grass Dance, Chicken Dance, and Traditional Dance. You'll not only hear the unique songs that accompany each style, but also have the chance to learn the steps and try the dances for yourself.

Students will have the chance to learn the steps and try the dances for themselves in a manner that honors the cultural tradition. The workshop welcomes participants of all backgrounds and experience levels. All are welcome—come with an open heart and a willingness to move!
