Join us at Plattekill Mountain on Saturday, February 21, as we celebrate the life and legacy of Penny Henry, our Snow Pope, our guardian angel, and a true descendant of ULLR.
Penny was a loving, kind, and free-spirited soul who adored winter, especially snow. Her laughter and radiant smile lit up every ski season at Plattekill Mountain. Whether she was tending the fire in the lodge first thing in the morning or lapping her favorite trail, Powder Puff, Penny made every moment on the mountain magical. Her favorite spot, now affectionately known as "Penny's Corner", is where she’d sit and watch skiers of all ages with pure joy.
But Penny’s magic wasn’t limited to her warm presence—those of us who knew her witnessed something incredible: she truly could make it snow. No radar needed. When Penny sensed snow in the air, she’d dance outside, and sure enough, the flakes would fall. It wasn’t just a legend; we saw it happen time and time again.
Penny passed away doing what she loved most, skiing the slopes, on Easter Day after suffering from an aneurism. Even in her passing, her connection to the snow was undeniable. On the day we brought her home, under rainy 55 degree skies, an eagle flew across our windshield as if to guide us. When we stopped at Plattekill with her urn, the rain turned to snow. It was a moment that reminded everyone that Penny will always be with us in the mountains, in the snow, and in our hearts.
Now, we celebrate her spirit and her legacy with the Snow Pope Love Run.

Where: The top of the Plattekill triple chair
Afterparty: Blockbuster Bar with raffles, shirts for sale, and lots of love
All proceeds from this event go to someone in need of love and support. For the second year, we will donate to Tristen Mulder in hopes of helping this amazing individual return to the slopes. Let’s honor Penny’s joy, kindness, and snow-dancing magic together. ❄️
