- **Event Description**: At Christmas, we marvel at the birth of our Savior. Hope has come. It’s a time for joy and celebration. But for some, the Christmas season comes with unique sorrow and grief. Perhaps it’s an empty chair of a lost loved one. Or an empty tree because of a lost job making it hard to sing joy to the world. But we worship a savior who understands our suffering and meets us in our pain.

On December 21, the longest night of the year, The Grove Community Church is offering a Blue Christmas Service: a somber, reverent service where we can express our gratitude for a Savior born to us, while being honest about the sorrows we still bear.
For anyone in a season of grief, struggle or hardship, this service is a safe place for you to express your gratitude for the hope we have in Christ without pressure to act like you’re not hurting. And if you’re not in a season of loss or grief, this is an opportunity to follow the direction of Romans 12:15, “Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.” Simply being present can minister to the grieving soul more than we realize. When there are no words of comfort to offer, our presence can speak volumes. Though the hurting heart may bear a heavy burden, they do not bear it alone.

As we gather at 6pm for about an hour. We will reflect on the goodness God has shown us and the pains we’ve had to bear. We will take time to pray for strength, for comfort, and for hope to be renewed. We will sing songs of worship and gratitude, and we will offer honest words of humble and hurting hearts. Come. Let us adore him, together.
