- **Event Description**: Biochar Kiln exposition to showcase a diversity of kiln options. If you have a custom home built kiln please bring it to share with the community. If you’re new to Biochar, come to learn. If you’re already excited about Biochar come and help. We are doing fire fuels reduction with Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Tribe, CHIRP California Heritage Indigenous Research Project, Sierra Institute, & Nevada City School of the Arts. At 13032 Bitney Springs rd. Nevada City, CA. 10am-1pm event. Kiln operators are asked to come early and can stay late to complete their burn. Our goal is to make as much biochar as possible reducing the community fire fuels while demonstrating a variety of kiln options for the community to decided which they would like to continue to use. One kiln will be ignited for the presentation as well as one will be quenched for demonstration, the rest will be burning throughout the day. Each kiln operator will have an opportunity to explain their kiln models function. We will carry on discussions about biochar & kiln efficiency.
