On pense à leurs légendaires festivals Ex, à leur collaboration unique avec Tom Cora, ainsi qu’à des albums comme Joggers & Smoggers, Instant, Een Rondje Holland ou The Ex at Bimhuis (1991–2015), sans oublier les aventures des membres en dehors du groupe. L’une des extensions les plus marquantes de The Ex fut leur projet avec Brass Unbound, né de leur collaboration et de leurs concerts avec l’icône éthiopienne Getatchew Mekuria.
