After the Slow Swing Summer workshop and Slovember, we’re going one step further.

This spring, we invite you into a trilogy of Slow Swing workshops: three mornings dedicated to exploring what happens when Lindy Hop meets slow jazz — and you actually give the music the time it deserves.

Slow Swing isn’t a fixed style. It’s a shared investigation.
How do you dance when the tempo drops, but the swing stays alive?
What needs to soften, what needs to stretch, and what suddenly becomes possible?

Across three workshops, international Slow Bal and Slow Swing teacher Deirdre will guide you through the world of Slow Swing together with a different co-teacher each time. She’ll be joined by Loes (Amsterdam), Assil (Amsterdam) and Joost (Rotterdam) — three inspiring dancers who each bring their own flavour, questions and insights into slow dancing. (More about the teachers below.)

What we’ll explore
- How to adapt your Lindy Hop technique to slow tempos

- Which movements sing on slow jazz — and which don’t

- How to fill the music without overfilling it

- Playing with timing, texture, space and musicality

- Dancing together rather than just executing moves

Expect grounded movement, subtle dynamics, and plenty of room to experiment, listen, and play.

You can join one, two, or all three workshops — each session stands on its own, but together they form a rich, connected journey into Slow Swing.

All classes will cover slow dance techniques

Saturday 4 April (Deirdre & Assil) : a conversation in dancing with call and response
Saturday 2 May (Deirdre & Loes) : dancing to the melody
Saturday 6 June (Deirdre & Joost) : getting comfy and playful in closed position
Level: At least 1 year of Lindy Hop experience. The workshops are not meant for beginners.

Time: 11:00 – 13:00 hr

Location: Studio Swing in Rhythm, Willem Buytewechstraat 34 in Rotterdam

If you love slow jazz, musicality, and the feeling of really inhabiting the music — this trilogy is for you. Come explore how slow swing can deepen, stretch, and enrich your dancing.

Registration
Roles: Not ELEF. Choose your role as lead or follow.
If you select “doesn’t matter”, you’ll be assigned where needed for balance.

Registration: Possible per individual workshop. You will register with Swing in Rhythm, so when you press the register bottom, you will be redirected to their website.
