The Volcanic Epic 2026 will redefine multi-day stage racing in New Zealand. This is where adventure meets competition, where the best riders come to test themselves, and where every kilometer is earned. The next evolution of New Zealand’s premier MTB stage race is coming, and it’s set to be the most ambitious edition yet. In 2026, the Volcanic Epic finds its new home on the edge of the country’s only supervolcano – Lake Taupō.

With five incredible stages, this will be like no other Volcanic Epic Before. Riders can expect:

A stage accessible only by helicopter, an exclusive ride into remote backcountry trails.
Remote native bushline rainforest trails
Challenging, rewarding stages – averaging 35km per day, culminating in an 82km Queen Stage that will push riders to their limits.
