A special weekend for your equine AND canine besties! Nobody has to be left behind at home for this one!
Participate in this clinic with either dog or horse, or both! Auditors welcome and encouraged for whole or part days.
Expand your training toolbox, learn new ways to enrich their lives and have fun together, strengthen your relationship, solve problem behaviours and more. No matter your usual focus or level of experience, the material is flexible and tailored to participants so there's something for everyone.
Expect to learn how to:
- build a two-way conversation with your animal
- improve behaviour observation skills and sharpen your training mechanics for improved results with your horse and/or dog
- use positive reinforcement to inspire behaviour change in your chosen species and your individual animal
- understand how training horses and dogs is both the same and SO so different!
- build a calm, focused connection, and "manners" around food
- solve problem behaviours constructively
- build confidence and curiosity in your horse or dog
and of course, put it all together with tricks, obstacles and more!
Saturday and Sunday:
9am start
9.30-12pm dogs
Lunch break
1-3.30pm horses
4pm finish
$420 for the whole weekend (participating with both horse and dog).
$340 for just dog or horse (two half-days training), with free auditing of the rest of the clinic.
$50 per day auditing or $80 for both days.
There's a lot of learning to be gained from training alternative species to our usual, so even if you don't have a dog/horse at home, stay and audit anyway.
If you'd like to borrow a horse to work with for the afternoon sessions, please ask, we may be able to provide one.
*Who is Bex Tasker - Positively Together?*
Bex is a certified trainer (KPA-CTP) who has been training horses, dogs, and other species for over 20 years. She teaches positive horsemanship clinics around NZ and internationally, trained drug detector dogs for NZ Customs, competes in dog agility and other sports, performs for crowds around the North Island with her "Animal Magic" trick show featuring trained sheep and chickens, and specialises in reward-based training for equines.
Note:
Your dog will need to be happy to relax in your vehicle or in a crate when not being trained and during the afternoon horse sessions (or take them home during the lunch break). This clinic is not suitable for seriously reactive/aggressive dogs, but if your dog is a little antisocial don't worry, other dogs will be kept on lead and dog-dog interactions are avoided during the sessions. Feel free to contact me to discuss whether this clinic is suitable for your animal.
