Illustration Workshop with Bethan Woollvin

Join author-illustrator Bethan Woollvin for an experimental illustration workshop. Bring a piece of your own work along, and explore colour, texture, and cut-paper techniques to reimagine your work in a new way.

Bethan will share her experience on visual storytelling for children, discuss experimenting with style, and why playfulness is key when making books for children.

About Bethan Woollvin...

Bethan Woollvin is an award-winning children’s book author and illustrator, best known for her bold, witty storytelling and empowering fractured fairytales.

She launched her career with Little Red, created while studying illustration at the Cambridge School of Art, which won the Macmillan Children’s Book Competition in 2014. Since then, Bethan has continued to reimagine classic tales including Rapunzel and Hansel & Gretel, alongside her own original tales such as Three Little Vikings and Luna and the Sky Dragon.

She has also collaborated with author Caryl Hart to create engaging non-fiction titles such as Meet the Planets and Meet the Weather. Bethan’s most recent work includes a bold reimagining of Robin Hood, and These Are My Rocks - an interactive book all about the joy of collecting.

Bethan lives and works in Sheffield with her partner and two scruffy dogs, Podrick and Panko.

Funded Bursary Places

Grimm & Co and Children’s Books North Network recognise that talent is everywhere but opportunity is not. If you are unable to book a ticket for this workshop without financial help, we encourage you to apply for one of our five free places. These places are based on financial need and will be selected at random from valid applicants.

You are eligible for a free ticket if you are in receipt of Jobseekers’ Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, Income Support, Working Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, Housing Benefit, Employment and Support Allowance, Asylum Support, or Universal Credit. If none of the above applies but you feel that you are still eligible, please get in touch.

The deadline for applying for a free ticket is Wednesday 19th November.
