CAS at Fernald - Spectroscopy: Unraveling the Secrets of Light.
Light is composed of many wavelengths, and in astronomy, those wavelengths can tell the story of distant stars. Everything from the composition of the star, its temperature, its mass, density, and even motion.
Join Cincinnati Astronomical Society at Fernald Nature Preserve for a presentation about spectroscopy and how the analysis of light helps astronomers learn about distant stars and planets. A demonstration will be given, with audience participation, of the wavelengths emitted by various gasses. Following this presentation, star gazing will include views of Saturn, the beautiful Fall star clusters, nebulas and galaxies.
*Stargazing is dependent on weather.
