Sola September!
Starting Sunday, September 7
For 5 weeks
At 11:15 Am in the Sanctuary
Protestant Christians agree that the 5 Solas are foundational to our salvation.
"The five solas of the Reformation are core biblical truths that reinforce the central teaching of the gospel and all of Scripture that only the Lord God Almighty saves us from sin, death, and Satan.
Moreover, the five solas help us understand how and why the Lord is the only Savior. Thus, it is vital for all Christians to understand the five solas of the Reformation. In grasping them, we will know God better, love Him more, appreciate all that was necessary for our salvation more deeply, and be motivated to live in a manner that redounds to God’s glory.
They give us the framework for seeing how the various parts of God’s plan of redemption fit together and for seeing the coherent, unified message of the Bible in all its beautiful diversity. "

"According to Dr. David Jeremiah's teachings, we are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. We are not saved by our own works, but by the gift of God through faith in Jesus Christ. Once saved, we should do good works, not to earn salvation, but because we are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works. Salvation is by grace through faith, not by our own effort.

"The five solas form the nucleus of the evangelical faith. They not only capture the gospel of Jesus Christ and explain how that gospel takes root in the sinner, but they also define where the authority of that gospel resides and to what end that gospel is preached and proclaimed."

“Yet the Reformation was a true recovery of the gospel, which is reason enough to celebrate it and to learn from it.
Although the Reformation resulted in various theological divisions, at its heart the magisterial Reformers recaptured the central truths of Christian theology because they recovered the central truths of Scripture.
For example, the Reformers rightly emphasized the supremacy of the triune God, the authority and sufficiency of Scripture, a proper view of human dignity and depravity, the necessity of God’s grace to save, and the glorious, exclusive and all-sufficient work of our Lord Jesus Christ. In proclaiming these gospel truths, the Reformation returned to a thoroughly biblical view of the world, purged of some of its medieval distortions, and recaptured what is vital and essential to the Bible’s entire storyline.
The Reformation solas best illustrate this recovery of the Bible’s central truths.”

The Reformers of the 16th century were moved to put their livelihoods, homes, fortunes, and lives on the line to restore the Church to the essential teachings of the Gospel. These core teachings have come down to us by five Latin phrases. Translated into English, they teach that salvation is according to Scripture alone, in Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone, for the glory of the God alone. These five truths changed the Church forever and continue to mark our core beliefs today.
