A new take on the golf format with a couple of twists this time! The event in Saint Charles went fairly well and things were learned. This charity tournament will be supporting the Wounded Warrior Project and A Call to Shoulders. It's limited to 32 players but you can certainly stop by and donate, grab a coffee and hang out. I verified on Charity Navigator and took John Hicks advice to support these 2 organizations. It's $20 for entry ($15 for PinGrounds, $1 to IFPA, and $4 to raffles). No cash prizes for finalists but there will be great prizes given out by manufacturers. There also will be silent auctions so you can find that perfect last minute stocking stuffer or something much bigger.
A Call to Shoulders is like a Maker Space only that they turn pens. They are local in Aurora and it's a great place for veterans to learn a new hobby, sell their work, and have someone to connect to.

So this time it's golf scoring but with a catch using my favorite format taken from John Reuter aka "The Bally Man" in Maine. John is legendary for his longstanding IFPA tournament named "Pin Maine-ia", his un-boxing launch parties of early Stern Pinball games, and his collection of Bally games. He has 100 games in his house (more in storage) in fact. Anyways the way it works is that the lowest ranked players are designated as captains. The captains are presented with a list of players that are drafted according to what John perceives the skill level of the player but I'm using your current IFPA ranking. The captains draft an A ranked player, B ranked and C ranked player. Afterwards you come up with a silly team name. You are given a scoring sheet and try to hit the target score for a game. You record what ball you hit the target score on, which is par, and if you don't, you record a 4 (or 6 if it's a 5 ball game). You want consistency and hitting par. Once you achieve the score you stop playing to keep things moving. Now as a team you are collectively trying to get the lowest TEAM score and competing against rival teams. It behooves the players within your team to help each other out with scoring rules but there is no coaching during a game! You can, and this is where things get interesting, help teamates get a multiball to reach a target score. Older games which PinGrounds has is partially why I have picked this location because certain games have lock stealing. Say I hit my target score on the first ball. I can "prime" a multiball and drain intentionally so that the next player in my group can use the multiball I primed for them to reach par. It's a team effort rather than an individual effort, you learn rules to a game, and you bond with people in your group.
Finals will consist of the top 8 and it's the lowest golf scoring players so your golf score does matter still! It's also a good chance to cheer on the person that may have come from your group to win it all. Also team names and their score will be announced before Finals start (hence the goofy team name).
