His career began gaining wider recognition in May 2018 when he was named RTÉ 2XM Artist of the Week following the release of his debut project Mr. MAAD the Inventor earlier that month, alongside an interview with Peter Curtin. Later that year, he performed live sets for RTÉ 2XM at their Donnybrook studios in Dublin, marking some of his earliest national radio exposure.GavinDaVinci went on to become the first artist and one of the founding members of Limerick’s PX Music collective, helping establish the movement from its earliest days and becoming one of the distinctive voices to emerge from the city’s underground hip hop scene. His 2019 album superscumbagmode further established his reputation, blending 90s-inspired hip hop, trap and experimental production with the language, humour and realities of working-class Ireland. In 2020, his project Please Don’t Listen To My Shit If You Love Me reached number two in the Irish Bandcamp charts on the first ever Bandcamp Friday on May 1, 2020.His work has continued to receive recognition both in Ireland and internationally, including being featured among Hot Press’ Top 50 Artists and receiving recognition from Los Angeles-based Goathead Records, including Best New Artist and Best Rap Song in 2025. His music has also featured in television shows and led to a performance on The Tommy Tiernan Show. For All The Island Field strips much of the rap framework away and leans into sean-nós, folk storytelling and the place that made him, the Island Field.It feels less like a left turn than a widening of the same instinct that was always there: tell the story properly, tell it in your own voice, and don’t clean it up for anyone.Hazey is one of the most singular voices in Irish music today.Strange Boy has carved out one of the most distinctive spaces in contemporary Irish music, bringing hip hop into direct conversation with traditional Irish music without making either side feel like a novelty. Holy/Unholy established that language brilliantly, with bodhrán, banjo and flute carrying bars about class, family, belief and the messier parts of growing up in Limerick.Since then, he has kept pulling at that thread, writing with the eye of a rapper and the instincts of an old storyteller. His new album, Say Nothin’, arrives later this month. Dionysus, released on 11 September, follows Foul, released earlier in the year, which digs into childhood, poverty and the way place gets inside you long before you have the language to understand it.He remains one of those artists who makes the argument about where rap ends and traditional music begins feel fairly pointless.CAR€W brings a younger Tipperary voice to the bill, moving comfortably between more reflective writing and looser, high-energy rap. There’s a directness to what he does, but also a willingness to jump styles rather than settle into one lane. A steady run of releases including IRISH ACCENT, DUB X TIPP, Clarity and the recent Mile A Minute has marked him out as one of the newer names worth keeping an eye on, while appearances across the GaelWave cyphers have put him in the middle of a wider new generation of Irish rap rather than operating in isolation.The gig is also the live end of Tipp-Hop: Empowerment Through Performance, a workshop programme taking place the previous week at Streamstown Arts Centre. Participants from the workshop will be invited to get involved on the night, whether that means performing, DJing or helping with production. There’s no obligation.
