Hex Mountain is where the world opens up. The landscape stretches wide in every direction — long ridges, stellated valleys, and horizon lines layered in blues and greys and greens. The climb is no small undertaking, but it rewards us again and again: wildflowers lighting up open slopes, sweeping views appearing through the trees, and that unmistakable feeling of earning a place among the clouds.

The trail is direct, steady, and fulfilling. We climb through bright spring timber, stepping into route-long panoramas of the Central Cascades. This hike is pure mountain energy — bold, spacious, and full of sky. And by early June, the slopes are bursting with balsamroot, lupine, and paintbrush — the mountain dressed in celebration.

Bring plenty of water, sun protection, and sturdy legs — the climb is real, but the payoff is sublime. This is a peak that stays with you.

Afterward, we’ll head to The Brick Saloon in Roslyn — Washington’s oldest continuously operating bar — for a cold drink and a hearty laugh earned by shared effort.

Hex Mountain — Washington Trails Association

We'll meet in the north parking lot at the Green Lake Park and Ride next to the bus stop on 65th and directly under the I-5 freeway at 7 am. Since we are heading east, we can also stop off at the Eastgate Outback Steakhouse at 7:30 am to either pick up additional riders or further coordinate rideshares. Rideshare for the day is $27 per person from the Green Lake Park and Ride and $23 per person from the Eastgate Outback Steakhouse, and is paid to the driver of the vehicle.

Green Lake Ride and Ride: 7 am, $27
Eastgate Outback Steakhouse: 7:30 am, $23
Our estimated time of arrival at the trailhead is: 9:00 am

Yes, there are two separate fees regarding this event. The event fee, and then a rideshare if you are riding as a passenger with a driver.
