Join us for Trading Day, a hands-on history experience designed to recreate the bartering traditions used by many early settlers and Native American communities while encouraging creativity, communication, and young entrepreneurship.

Students won't just learn about barter. They'll create their own trading marketplace and try it for themselves!

Each student is invited to bring something they would like to trade. Ideas include:

• Homemade crafts or artwork
• Baked goods, cookies, or candy
• Bracelets, necklaces, hair ties, headbands, or other accessories
• Trading or playing cards
• Small toys or purchased items
• Carved or handmade objects
• A song, dance, or other entertaining performance
• Or come up with your own creative idea!

NO MONEY NEEDED!

No modern currency will be used during Trading Day. That means no cash, coins, credit cards, or electronic payments. All transactions will happen through friendly, word of mouth bartering.

Students will decide what they are willing to exchange, negotiate with one another, and agree on each trade together. Maybe two cookies are worth a bracelet. Maybe a piece of artwork is worth a small toy. That's all part of the fun!

Tables will be available for students to display their trade items. Families are also welcome to bring a small table from home. Lawn chairs are welcome and encouraged.
