William Eggleston began photographing in the 1960s and although inspired by Henri Cartier-Besson and Walker Evans, he choses to photograph primarily in colour. At the beginning, his "democratic" attention to banal subjects and the absence of a decisive moment encountered a harsh reaction from critics and public alike.
However, this view changed over time.
Eggleston's vision became crucial in establishing colour photography as a legitimate art form, significantly influencing its future development.
In this lecture we will review some of his key photos, discuss concepts and techniques, draw creative inspiration for our own photographic practice.
