- **Event Description**: You may have seen examples of redwork embroidery at antique stores, or perhaps you’ve even inherited some redwork embroideries made by a great-grandmother. Popular in America from the mid-19th century through the 1920s, redwork embroidery was made possible by the development of the first commercially available colorfast dye, a bright Turkey red.

Using this red thread and simple stitches, American women embellished all sorts of household goods with cheerful redwork embroidery: quilts, coverlets, pillow covers, table linens, aprons, dresser scarves and the like. Spend an afternoon exploring this traditional American craft with Marjorie Pim, founder and owner of Calm & Threads, at a two-hour workshop at the Wentworth House.

The workshop fee is $55 per person ($50 for ARCH members), and includes all materials (embroidery hoop, thread, needle, and fabric with pre-printed botanical motif) to create your own charming redwork embroidery.
