12:30- 3:30 pm. Donna Kay -Handcarding Basics 

Discover how versatile handcards can be for preparing fiber for spinning. Prepare “rolags”, “cigars”  and “batts” to spin using your chosen drafting method. Donna will also demonstrate a traditional long draw (woolen draft) from a rolag. You will have your choice of a few different wools, do some blending and work on technique. 

Proficiency Level: Open to all who want to learn about carding.     

Materials: Handcards, spinning wheel in good working order or hand spindle (optional), pen and paper for notes. 

Materials Fee: $5 for wool and handouts


 All participants are encouraged to join or to make a donation to ARCH, the supporting organization for The Colonel Paul Wentworth House.
