About the event

Community Conversation on Racial Justice
Please make plans to join us in the celebration and recognition of Black History Month as we gather at CrossRoads on Thursday, February 26th at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of this event is to provide a community-wide conversation about the importance of racial justice that leads to collaboration in the work towards a more equitable and just society through advocacy and solidarity. The conversation will focus on highlighting civil rights, threats to our civil liberties, and ways for us to advocate for marginalized groups whose civil rights are under assault. More specifically, the presentation will center on the atrocities of mob lynching in the early 20th century, efforts that led to legislative changes to prohibit lynching, and the power of the Montgomery Bus Boycott towards cultivating greater civil, voting, and housing rights for Blacks in the 1960s.

A light meal will be provided, so an RSVP is requested. To make your reservation, please reply "going" to this event or contact Patrick Wilson at ZHIgISBqcGF0cmlja3dpbHNvbiB8IGdtYWlsICEgY29t.

Our special guest speaker is Mr. Tommie Hollins, Sr. Mr. Hollins serves as the Vice President of the NAACP chapter in Pulaski County. He is a highly-decorated retired U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major and formerly served in the Department of Defense and Veteran Affairs. He is dedicated to serving the local community through a host of various positions and advocating for equity, political rights and social inclusion through his work with the NAACP.

Black history is American history. Together, we can make a difference in our country and community. We hope you will join us.
