Team Sign-Ups will open on Saturday, March 29th at 8am for the 7th Annual Ride-On fore Carrie Golf Tournament... This full day of fun and fundraising sold out in record time last year and we're hoping that this year's event will be no different as we're only signing up 30 teams (120 players)... Again this year, each player will have an opportunity to compete for hole prizes on over nine holes ~ One of which includes a chance for a 'Hole-in-One' shot to win a cool $10,000... Also again this year, the RO4C will host an 'After-Partee' at Mama G's with raffles, live and silent auctions, music and drink specials ~ It's always the perfect way to cap off a great day of golfing, fun, and raising money for cancer warriors!
Each year, all golf proceeds raised by the RO4C are donated to children in need and this year is no different ~ All proceeds and support will be split evenly between two incredibly worthy child recipients in 2yo Ozzy Hentges and 7yo Otto Abbott...
Here are their stories:
~ Ozzy Jo Hentges, born February 16th 2023, surprised her parents with her Trisomy 21 diagnosis at birth and since day one, she has been the brightest light and the happiest baby. Unfortunately, at the end of June 2024, the then 16 month old Ozzy was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The family was immediately admitted at the Children's Masonic Hospital to start her cancer treatment… After their second extended inpatient stay, the Hentges family was released to go home on Christmas Day and were able to welcome their second daughter Banks just a week later, something that makes the family grateful to no longer be staying at the hospital full time...
This St Michael family is grateful for all the support from Ozzy's team at Masonic and their community. Although treatment is long at 2.5 years, Ozzy's been so strong and brave through all the obstacles and her little body is fighting hard and the prognosis is optimistic with prayers to be finished with her treatment in fall of 2026.
~ Otto Abbott is a brave 7-yo who's been fighting a spinal cord tumor for over five years... Admitted for testing at 13 months when pain with simple movements, weakness in both legs, and more concerning, his failure to gain weight, it was still another 3 months before an MRI led to Otto’s diagnosis at just 16 months old... Despite then undergoing a major surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible, it was unfortunately not all removable, so chemotherapy was started in hopes of shrinking it further ~ Over these last four years, Otto from Long Lake has endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy, countless MRIs, and continued setbacks with the tumor still growing. His most recent recurrence of tumor growth was in March 2024 after which Otto was treated with a more targeted oral chemotherapy drug that has shown incredible success by shrinking the tumor more than any previous treatment… Throughout all of this, Otto has worked hard in his physical therapy and has made steady progress at regaining his mobility and independence ~ Otto’s determination to keep going, even when it’s tough, has been a big part of his ongoing journey.
Start 2025 out right by making sure that you stand with us as we stand with these two young fighters and their families.
