Join us for a special evening celebrating the remarkable career of Kansas City's own Chuck Haddix—longtime radio host of KCUR's beloved "Fish Fry" and the recently retired Director of the Marr Sound Archives at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC).
This exclusive event, aptly titled "A Few More Fish to Fry," is a tribute to Chuck's profound impact on preserving and sharing American music. For over three decades, Chuck has served up the finest in Americana, blues, soul, rhythm and blues, jumpin' jive, and zydeco every Friday and Saturday night on KCUR. Beyond the airwaves, he directed the Marr Sound Archives, a massive collection of over 400,000 historic sound recordings, and co-authored "Kansas City Jazz: From Ragtime to Bebop" and authored "Bird: The Life and Music of Charlie Parker." Chuck also teaches Kansas City jazz history at the Kansas City Art Institute, recently produced the album Bird in KC from Verve Records, and contributed to film projects like Robert Altman's Kansas City.
