Solar Telescope Viewing at City Lake Park

Getting in a mile or two at City Lake? Take a break with us after your last lap and join members of the Tar River Astronomy Club and Imperial Centre education staff, at Rocky Mount's City Lake Park, from 11:00a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2025.

We'll provide safely-filtered, jaw-dropping telescopic views of Earth-sized sunspots, shadowy filaments and truly gigantic solar flares. Experience the Sun's fiery surface like never before!

Dress warmly and remember, viewing takes place weather permitting and is FREE to everyone.
