- **Event Description**: Please join us Saturday, Dec. 13 at 10:30 a.m. for our 14th annual Holiday Remembrance Ceremony in High Street Municipal Cemetery, Rocky Mount. We will be laying holiday greenery at the graves of the 28 Confederate veterans plus the four Spanish-American War veterans resting there. The ceremony will begin with a Confederate Iron Cross dedication for Capt. David Peyton Dewitt Divers of the 42nd VA Infantry. He was twice wounded, losing the lower part of his left leg at The Battle of the Wilderness. He came home to be elected Franklin County Treasurer, serving more than 30 years until his death in 1914. Help us honor the tradition of patriotism of our citizens. Everyone is welcome, especially descendants.
