- **Event Description**: Join the audience at a free brass band concert June 15. Student musicians from MD, DC, and VA high schools and regional colleges will perform with the Rockville Brass Band and international soloists Dr. Jasmine “Jazzie” Pigott, tubist, and Amy McCabe, trumpeter and cornetist. The Band will award scholarships to students on stage for their winning entries in a solo competition.

Joining us are local students who will attend these fine high schools next Fall: Albert Einstein, Richard Montgomery, Winston Churchill, Middletown, Thomas S Wootton, Winston Churchill, and Gaithersburg. Several local students who will attend universities are also joining the performance. They hail from: Cleveland Institute of Music, Georgia Institute of Technology, James Madison University, University of Maryland Baltimore County, and University of Maryland, College Park. Students can still register to rehearse for the concert with the Band June 15 and participate in a brass clinic with our soloists June 14. The concert on June 15 will feature solos that spotlight Amy McCabe – Concertpiece for Cornet (1993) by James Curnow – and Jazzie Piggot – Capriccio (2002) by Rodney Newton. The Band will also present six ensemble works ranging in their inspiration from Renaissance history – Madrigalum (2006) by Philip Sparke – to contemporary pop – Superman (1978) by John Williams. 

The Rockville Brass Band is Maryland’s oldest British-style Brass Band, now in its 49th year. Join us June 15th as we end our fifth decade of music!
