Join a series of free workshops, facilitated by artist Vipoo Srivilasa. In these workshops, you will create your own Food Guardian artwork from textiles, inspired by favourite dishes, family recipes, and cultural traditions.

Together, we will explore memories of childhood food, stories of migration, and the journeys that shape us, using textiles gathered from the community to bring these ideas to life.

This is a welcoming space for connection, storytelling, and making. The workshop is open to adults in Rockhampton, whether you’ve recently arrived or have lived here your whole life, who have a story to share. No experience is needed.

Come along, share what you feel comfortable sharing, and be part of creating something meaningful together.

Note:

This workshop is designed for adults and is not suitable for children under 15 years old.

A selection of artworks from the workshops will be displayed Rockhampton Museum of Art from 19 September – 15 November 2026.

Any artworks displayed will be available for collection following the exhibition.

Participant numbers per session 6-8 people.

We ask you to bring a piece of textile that features a pattern, design or story connected to your history, culture or personal life. Something meaningful that you no longer need. This material will become part of your Good Guardian.
