# Event Details - **Event Name**: Buddy Holly's Winter Tour Tribute - **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 31 Jan, 2026 at 03:00 pm – Sat, 31 Jan, 2026 at 05:00 pm - **Event Description**: On January 31st of 1959, Buddy Holly, Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens, and Dion played a rousing show at the Duluth Minnesota Armory as part of their Winter Dance Party tour. A young Bob Dylan attended this show, and it changed his life forever. On February 2nd the musicians played the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. Early in the morning of February 3rd, all but Dion lost their lives in the crash of a small plane they had chartered to escape long hours of bitterly cold travelling in a bus with an inadequate heater. Our 'fantasy concert' will feature the Trinadora Rocks band performing hits that Buddy, Bopper, and Ritchie would have performed at Moorhead, MN Armory on February 3rd if their plane had not crashed. The tour pressed on, with Waylon Jennings singing Buddy's songs and Frankie Avalon and Fabian were added to the lineup. Our concert will include hits by Waylon, Frankie, and Fabian as well as others such as Roy Orbison, Linda Ronstadt, and Bobby Vee, whose lives were touched by the tour headliners. Doors open at 2pm, and the concert runs from 3pm to about 5pm. Attendance will be limited to 150. Light refreshments and bottled soft drinks will be available. There is no admission charge, but goodwill donations from the audience pay the musicians and help to defray the church's event hosting costs. Those who wish guaranteed OPEN* seating regardless of what time they arrive may make a non-refundable early donation in the form of a $5 ticket at the link listed below.
