🎉 Soul of the City 2025 is happening Saturday, August 30 from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM at Franklin Field (1251 9th Street, Rock Island)!
Presented by the MLK Center in partnership with Rock Island Parks and Recreation, The West End Rib Fest, Community Caring Conference, and the Rock Island County NAACP, this free, family-friendly event celebrates community, culture, and connection.
The day kicks off with the Soul of the City Parade at 10:00 AM, starting at Frances Willard Elementary (25th Avenue & 9th Street) and marching north to Franklin Field.

- West End Rib Festival & Contest
- Live music and entertainment, featuring Funktastic 5
- Special performance by the Jesse White Tumblers

- Kids’ games and activities in the new Kidz Zone

- Appearances by Marshall Glover (Event Host), MLK’s Boxing Club, Dynamic Status Gems Dance Team, Six of the QC’s most sought after DJs, and more!
- The return of the National Society for Black Engineers (NSBE) Walkie-Talkies for Kids
