- **Event Description**: American persimmons (Diospyros virginiana) are native to the eastern United States to about 100 miles south of Papa Pawpaw's nursery in Rock Island, IL but can easily be grown in all of Illinois and most of Iowa. They taste of caramel, butterscotch, and pumpkin spice.

All trees that I sell are grafted superior varieties and are all female trees that are parthenocarpic and can bear fruit with no pollen or are self fertile and will have a few male flowers and can pollinate themselves. You only need one tree from me to have fruit unlike seedlings (which I do not sell) that can be up to 80% male. Papa Pawpaw's Plants is a one man backyard plant propagator that sells perennial edibles that will fit into most city yards that most garden centers don't carry. When you visit the nursery in Rock Island, Illinois you get a tour where you will see mature plants that I sell so you can see how they will fit into your Edible landscape and if they are in season you get to try them.

I focus on having the best genetics of the tastiest and highest quality perennial fruits, nuts, and berries at the lowest price and that once established these plants will thrive with the STUN Method (Sheer Total Utter Neglect) because they are hardy and disease resistant plants that are well suited to their environment. I want you to succeed and if you put a little effort into establishing them you will succeed.
