Brooke LaLone, LMFT will be facilitating this training. Brooke is a local therapist in her own private practice who specializes in domestic violence. She is also a survivor herself of domestic violence and is a mother to a very spunky three-year-old. Due to her lived experience, Brooke takes great pride in supporting other survivors through therapy and her coaching services, as well as providing clinical consultation to other professionals in the area. In addition to domestic violence, Brooke also specializes in treating eating disorders, perinatal mental health, and is a Neurodiversity specialist. She is also a proud board member to KMB for Answers, a local non-profit promoting awareness and education for eating disorder treatment.
This training is for professionals across all fields: mental health, legal, medical, and educational realms. Everyone is impacted by domestic violence, and at the very least by the current laws, policies, and stigmas in our society.
This training aims to provide in-depth education around domestic violence - where it stems way beyond just physical violence. Domestic violence abusers often thrive in the justice systems, and victims are at risk of losing everything if they report anything to the legal system - especially if children are involved. Due to the current dangers of the legal system and misconceptions in the mental, medical and educational systems, we are failing the survivors of domestic violence.
Professionals attending this training will be able to better identify DV, find ways to better support survivors and their children, network with other professionals in other disciplines, and begin vital conversations to advocate for policy changes and reform.
