ROCHESTER TIMEWALK: A guided exploration of Rochester's most treasured sites

Rochester is without question one of the most historic places in the country. At a strategically-important point just one day's walk from the City of London, and at a crucial crossing point over the River Medway, Kings and rulers over the last 2,000 years have recognised its importance.

That's one of the key reasons why we have some of the most significant buildings in England, with those visible today covering over 1400 years of England's history.

From the Cathedral to the Castle, from one of the oldest continually occupied homes in the country to one which gave a roof over the heads of nearly 800,000 men - ALL FREE OF CHARGE! - and some of the individuals whose lives have had such an impact on Rochester they are still felt today, many centuries after they lived.

Come and join local history buff and tour guide, Shane Waterman, as he takes you on an easy wander around 'the best of the best' on a tour which assumes no prior knowledge on your part - perfect for first time visitors... and those who've lived here all their lives too!

Suitable for all ages, although children do need to have achieved a reasonable level of attention for a tour lasting up to three hours including a refreshment break in the Crypt Cafe of Rochester Cathedral.
