It is always especially exciting to celebrate big anniversaries for our great film music festivals … 10th anniversaries are always amazing. 20th anniversaries are absolutely epic! But there is nothing that tops a magical first edition and welcoming a new member of the film music celebration family! This October 16, 17 and 18, 2025, the great film music festivals of the world receive a new sibling! This will be a whopper of a first edition … it is even the first ever film music festival in America! I know that the global film music festival circuit will join me in welcoming the Soundtrax Film Music Festival, presented by The Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester. Film music festivals do not drop from the sky and do not create themselves. They exist only because of enormous effort and big dreams. In this case I thank and congratulate the co-directors of Soundtrax: Mark Watters (director of the Beal Institute at Eastman) and Mark Bocko, PhD. (director of the University of Rochester's audio and music engineering program) and the entire Soundtrax team.
The beautiful Soundtrax website has just gone live!

Join us if you can! I am so excited to be presenting the “John Williams Reimagined” trio ensemble featuring Sara Andon, flute; Cécilia Tsan, cello and Simone Pedroni, piano for a performance on October 18. The astounding group of special guests over these three days will additionally include composers Jeff Beal, John Corigliano, Terence Blanchard, Carter Burwell, Nan Schwartz, Conrad Pope, Garry Schyman, Guy Whitmore and Seth Wright; musicians YooJin Jang and violin; Roger Sayer, organ, former Vice President of Music for Walt Disney Television Animation Bambi Moé and moderator par-excellence, Jon Burlingame. What a line-up this is! Bravo all! What a film music party for the ages this is going to be!
