Exhorder is an American heavy metal [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_music] band from New Orleans [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Orleans,_Louisiana], Louisiana.

Considered progenitors of the groove [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groove_(music)]-oriented thrash [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrash_metal] sound later made famous by bands such as Pantera [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantera] and Machine Head [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machine_Head_(band)], their music is viewed as an important influence on the New Orleans metal scene [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_New_Orleans#Heavy_metal].

Initially active from 1985 to 1994 and 2008 to 2011—reformed in 2017.
