- **Event Description**: Water is one of the most fascinating subjects in watercolour — constantly shifting, impossible to fully control, and yet deeply rewarding to paint.

In this special evening workshop, artist Aliya Bodnar will share her personal approach to watercolour through a combination of demonstration, discussion, experimentation, and guided painting.

The session will begin with a short introduction to Aliya’s artistic journey and her experience developing as a watercolour artist in the UK, before moving into an exploration of the materials, surfaces, pigments, and techniques that shape the behaviour of watercolour.

Together we will explore:

? Watercolour materials and surfaces
? Pigments, transparency and colour behaviour
? Paper choices and how they affect movement and layering
? Understanding water and timing in watercolour
? Reflections, atmosphere and creating depth

Participants will have the opportunity to experiment through a series of short practical studies before creating a final watercolour painting inspired by boats and reflections.

Artists already working in watercolour are warmly encouraged to bring their own paints, brushes and palettes. Participants working in other media are equally welcome materials will also be available during the workshop.

As part of the session, we will also explore painting on 100% cotton watercolour paper, offering a chance to experience how differently it absorbs, holds and releases water.

This workshop is suitable for different levels of experience and is designed as an evening of exploration, observation, and discovering the expressive possibilities of watercolour.
