- **Event Description**: Our Smithsonian series begins with a recorded presentation on the big screen, “An Appalachian Journey: Skyline Drive to the Great Smokies,” featuring naturalist and interpreter Keith Tomlinson.
Participants will travel along one of the country’s most breathtaking scenic routes on a journey spanning nearly 600 miles of dramatic Appalachian landscapes. Along the way, the presentation explores historic sites representing centuries of human history, from Native American habitation to colonial settlements.
The program also examines the region’s remarkable geology, diverse habitats and extraordinary wildlife. From steep summits, ancient volcanic formations and granite peaks to dramatic gorges and freshwater mollusks, Tomlinson explores the Appalachians through the lenses of history, science and ecology.

This presentation will be viewed in our Meeting Rooms on Thursday, October 8th from 4:30 to 6 pm.
